WATCH: A Man Is Getting Eaten Alive by a Snake on Discovery Channel

Youtube
Discovery has really lowered the bar with its latest special.
It’s a show called Eaten Alive, and it follows naturalist and wildlife filmmaker Paul Rosolie as he voluntarily gets eaten alive by an anaconda that he and a group “kidnap” from the middle of a rainforest. Yes, really.
Unfortunately for the anaconda, digestion is not in the cards. Rosolie gets eaten while wearing a “snake-proof” suit complete with a cord, so his pals can then pull him out. In case the anaconda didn’t go for it, Rosolie covered himself in pig blood, because apparently that makes inorganic material appetizing.
Spoiler alert: Rosolie gets out, because what good is a show about getting eaten alive if the “victim” doesn’t escape? Also, Discovery is assuring people the snake survived the ordeal—otherwise airing the special would be out of the question. So as it turns out, Eaten Alive is simply a touching tale about overcoming the natural order through animal abuse, rather than an opportunity to simply kill an anaconda for the pleasure of a TV audience. Thanks for the educational programming, Discovery.
Eaten Alive airs on Dec. 7 at 9:00 EST. Discovery has released two promos for Eaten Alive, but they’re essentially the same—watch the first in the player below.
