LOOK: 'Aswang' attacks reported in several towns in Central Mindanao

This wound was allegedly made by an "aswang" bite in Poblacion 8, Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao, 27 May 2015.

Residents in several towns in North Cotabato and Maguindanao have reportedly been attacked by an "aswang," a Filipino mythical creature that appears as a dog.
Among the victims were from Poblacion 8 in Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao, according to information relayed by resident Datu Habib Sandalan, who also sent this picture of a person with the alleged bite mark on the face.

Sandalan said it was early morning Friday when the "aswang," appearing as a big dog entered the house of an unidentified married couple and bit them.

The husband allegedly was able to fight off and hack at the monster, which simply disappeared.
The wounds of the couple are under observation.

In a related development, four residents of Barangay Tapodok, Aleosan, North Cotabato were reportedly similarly attacked by what they believed was an “aswang.”
Among the victims here were a four-year-old boy, a teenager, and two grown persons. The aswang allegedly bit them all.

The “aswang,” they said, took the form of a black cat, and attacked them Monday night in the said barangay, Aleosan police chief Senior Inspector Ariel Milocotones said, basing his statement on the information from the police in Barangay Tapodok, Chairman Kadafhy Taya.

While the reports have brought fear among the residents, police called on them to be more observant.
Residents have placed garlic, which is believed to scare the “aswang,” in their residences in Barangay Tapodok.

Recently, it was also reported that the town of Columbia in Sultan Kudarat and Koronadal City in South Cotabato were terrorized by “aswang.”
