WATCH: TransAsia plane clips bridge before crashing into river

A passing taxi cab was apparently clipped by the plane before it fell into the river.

TAIPEI, Taiwan - A dashboard camera of a passing vehicle recorded the ill-fated flight of a domestic plane in Taipei.

The video shows the TransAsia ATR 72-600 turboprop plane descended dangerously and hit a portion of a bridge. It then ploughed into the river.

The accident happened just before 11:00 am (0300 GMT), a few minutes after the plane took off from Taipei's Songshan airport en route to the island of Kinmen.
Reuters quoted Taiwan's fire department that one person died and about 10 others showed "no sign of life".
Rescuers were trying to reach the trapped passengers. Television images showed rescuers standing on large sections of broken wreckage trying to pull passengers out of the plane with ropes. Those who were rescued -- including two children -- were put in dinghies and taken to the shore.
Of the 58 on board, 28 were rescued, the fire department said in a text message, leaving 19 people missing.
Last July 48 people were killed after another domestic TransAsia flight crashed onto houses during a storm on the Taiwanese island of Penghu. With report from Reuters
