a woman in China fell into a 70-day vegetative state following a
serious car accident, her boyfriend refused to leave her bedside until
she woke up.

Chen Ben had quit his job so that he could sit by Fu Jun's bedside, singing to her and telling her stories as she lay unconscious.
When she finally woke, Chen and his mother were wild with joy -- until Fu spoke her first words.
Pummelling her head and legs, she cried out, "Why did you save me? You shouldn't look after me. I don't want to get married, don't want to be a burden!"
Fu also later told a journalist, "He and his parents treat me so well. I remember the kindness they extend but have never thought of marriage because I’m afraid I would bring much trouble to their lives."
Although Chen was hurt by her words, he did not take them to heart as he understood that she had said them out of frustration with her condition, said AsiaOne.
