LOOK: Philippines Win In Indonisia in Math Contest

Young Filipino students emerged as overall champions in an international math contest in Bogor, Indonesia.
The eight delegates from the Philippines won four gold medals, three silvers and one bronze in the 1st Challenge for the Future Mathematicians 2014 contest held in Bogor from December 26 to 29.
They bested Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Hong Kong in the medal tally, according to Dr. Simon Chua, president of the Mathematics Trainers Guild-Philippines, who added that the Filipino students also won first and second runner-up in the puzzle contest.
Individual gold medals were given to Steven Reyes of St. Jude Catholic School, Immanuel Josiah Balete of St. Stephen's High School, Naomi Anne King of St. Jude Catholic School and Vanessa Ryanne Julio of St. Jude Catholic School.
Silver medalists include Dominic Lawrence Bermudez of Notre Dame of Greater Manila, Jose Lorenzo Abad of Colegio San Agustin-Makati and Aiman Andrei Kue of Zamboanga Chong Hua High School.
Maxinne Louise Dominique Co of Ateneo de Iloilo SMCS, meanwhile, won a bronze medal.
Chua said Philippine Team A – composed of Balete, Co, King and Reyes – bagged the overall champion award and second runner-up in the team puzzle competition.
On the other hand, Philippine Team B – composed of Abad, Bermudez, Julio and Kue – won first runner-up in the puzzle contest.
